There are so many examples of why Amy is a nurse and leader who goes above and beyond each day she comes to work.
Amy was hired as the manager of the admin sups. Supporting me as the director in improving processes, advocating for the admin sups, and always putting patient care first. There are so many examples of why Amy is a nurse and leader who goes above and beyond each day she comes to work. Not only has she made progress in initiatives impacting the admin sups directly, i.e. throughput and staffing, but she also has taken on projects like identifying aggressive patients, hall bed rounding, and peer-to-peer collaboration. Even though Amy is constantly busy and working hard on improving what she can, she also steps up when staff and patients need her.
On a day when the ED was maxed out on space, Amy went down to sub-triage and started helping the nurses provide patient care. She was working an admin day, and rather than sit at a computer and make progress on her list, she went down and let the ED staff know she was there to support and help them keep patients safe. Amy will move beds, turn patients, give medications, talk to a patient in distress, basically anything she can to support the nurses and staff who are working harder than they ever have before. I do not know what I would do without her as my manager. She follows the behaviors of excellence and always maintains professionalism and courtesy even when others are venting and taking her frustrations out on her. Thank you, Amy, for all that you do each day for the staff and patients of UNMH.
