The DAISY Award is for nurses who practice skillful and compassionate care every day. I haven’t worked with anyone who exemplifies that more than Maggie. She is one of the most experienced nurses in our hospital. She has worked as our Charge for years and led our team through difficult years of COVID with grace. She is one we can go to with questions. She willingly will leave the unit to check on patients in other departments when asked. She helps place difficult IVs on other units when we don’t have SWAT. She calmly and efficiently runs codes and rapid responses. She is a great team player.

Maggie does what needs to be done for the best interest of the patient and our team. She is supportive of the staff, making sure they get their breaks and ensuring they are supported. She is always there when a new admit arrives and doesn’t leave until the primary RN has it under control. She is on her feet all night ensuring patients are getting the best care. She goes above and beyond to make sure every patient looks comfortable and the rooms are tidy. She is reliable and loyal. I have never seen or heard of her calling out for a shift. She shows up each shift and gives all she has to give the best care to our patients. Maggie is one of our greatest assets.
