Throughout my stay, Sharon was extremely compassionate, kind, respectful, helpful, and treated me with dignity.
I was in the hospital for a severe case of pneumonia with other health complications of systemic sarcoidosis, including cardiac sarcoidosis. In other words, my health can be medically complicated. While in the hospital, I was not responding to IV antibiotics which was worrisome. I have not been hospitalized, other than for pacemaker surgeries. I was extremely sick and suffering.

Throughout my stay, Sharon was extremely compassionate, kind, respectful, helpful, and treated me with dignity. I was very sick and needed a lot of care and assistance. I was not always an easy patient. Especially in the evening when my fever would spike each night, all through the night. No matter how much care I needed or how long it took her, Sharon never left my side and assisted me to help me get better. Sharon was always kind, patient, caring, and compassionate.

When I was sick and crying, Sharon even stood by my bed talking with me, being kind, showing care and concern, and helping me in any way she could. Words cannot explain the gratitude I have for Sharon or the lengths she went to for me. I am a helping professional in the community for almost 28 years and know what quality care means. I was at my worst, down and out, and worried if I was going to even live. I could see that Sharon was concerned for me as well. I could see and recognize that I was in good hands when she was there.

It is hard when you’re trying to advocate for yourself but are so sick. I felt comfortable and safe when Sharon was on shift. She provided top-notch care, changing my blankets, helping me to the bathroom, changing the temperature in the room, getting me drinks around the clock and ice, checking on my medications, getting my medications when I could have them, talking to me when I was scared and did not feel well, explaining things to me which helped so much, coming up with ideas/ways to help me and they worked and so much more.

Above all, Sharon conducted herself with professionalism, compassion, and kindness! Kindness means everything, especially to someone who is sick. I am used to being the helper and not needing help. This situation was so hard and I would wait for her to get to her shift because I knew I would get the care I needed. I thank her with all my heart. She is a true asset to the hospital and is a superior nurse. She is a role model for all other nurses and helping professionals.
