Patsy McIntire is an LPN at our Correctional facility and has been a godsend in the 7 months that I have been the DON there. It was Ms. McIntire’s dedication to our staff and the inmates that kept us afloat during these months. Nurse McIntire provided excellent patient care to our patient that was housed in our infirmary for over 4 months due to extensive surgery. She has volunteered to be there when we have been short-staffed. Nurse McIntire has always treated our patients and inmates like they are human beings and does not judge them for the crimes they have committed.

Nurse McIntire is a lifesaver here at work. There was this one incident where we got a call about one of our inmates complaining about weakness in the face and acting funny. Nurse McIntire had them bring this inmate down to be looked at. After getting their vitals and doing a further assessment, she said that this inmate was having a stroke and immediately called the doctor. The doctor agreed and Nurse McIntire sent the inmate immediately to the hospital where it was determined that the inmate in fact did have one and if they hadn't gotten there when they did the inmate would have died. It was her quick thinking that saved this inmate.
