My experience with Katelyn dates back to May of 2021 - the worst day of my life. I was incredibly sick with covid-19, and 29 weeks pregnant. I was admitted due to bleeding, and later found out that I had lost my baby. I was diagnosed with DIC along with covid-19. My life was incredibly at risk that day due to bleeding. Katelyn was our nurse while I delivered our still daughter, W. During the labor process I was unable to get an epidural, and Katelyn made sure I was as comfortable as I possibly could be. She was incredibly kind to us, and compassionate with W once born. She spoke to her as if she was still alive, and it made this horrible situation better for my husband and me. She took the time to sit with us after she was delivered, made sure that we had ample photos of her and us, and went out of her way to ensure that we were as comfortable as possible. This day would have been so much worse without her support, guidance, and compassionate ways.

Fast-forward to May of 2021 - the day we delivered our rainbow daughter, M. Katelyn just happened to be our nurse during her delivery too. She made sure that our new experience was 100% positive; made us laugh throughout and was an incredible patient advocate for me once M was born ensuring I had skin-to-skin 'golden hour' with her. She held my hand during my epidural, moved me around once it was kicking in (I couldn't control my legs at all!), and placed a peanut ball to help the process proceed as quickly as possible. She always ensured that I was comfortable and confident - she is the definition of this award.

Without her guidance throughout both deliveries, I know for certain I would have had much different experiences. Katelyn, thank you for everything you've done for my family. You will always be remembered by both my husband and me. The impression you have left on us is life-long, and you deserve every ounce of this award.
