Her dedication and passion for patient safety led to the initial TIPS pilot on 3/4 South.
Not only does Krys provide compassionate care to all her patients, but she is also a true champion for innovation and change, which is why I’m nominating her for the DAISY Award. During her master’s program, Krys introduced the TIPS concept (Tailoring Interventions for Patient Safety) as an evidence-based practice (EBP) for fall prevention. TIPS allows caregivers to individualize patient care and interventions based on personal risk factors. Her dedication and passion for patient safety led to the initial TIPS pilot on 3/4 South. As a frontline RN, Krys provided both formal and informal education for her peers which helped drive the success. She assisted in both quantitative and qualitative analysis and incorporated staff and patient/family feedback into what is now our final process. TIPS is now included on all patient care boards in Adult Services and will be instrumental in our work toward reducing patient harm. Thank you, Krys, for being a strong patient advocate and modeling professional excellence through EBP.
