I will be forever indebted to Nurse Dana for the humane compassion she gave to my husband when he was at his most vulnerable. My dear husband was admitted with some serious health issues, and despite all efforts, he took a turn for the worse, and became bedridden with limited speech. Nurse Dana continued to communicate with him as she did before with respect and compassion. She looked him in the eyes when talking to him, used his name, and caressed his head. At a time when I was most anxious, seeing that my husband was being treated so kindly helped me. On what turned out to be my husband’s last day alive, she asked what kind of music he liked, and he responded jazz. She used her own phone to play the music. With so much going on, I didn’t think to do that, but Nurse Dana did and was able to give him the pleasure of hearing his favorite music. It still warms my heart to think of the pleasure she gave him despite it being a sad time. She most definitely gave him excellent medical care, but the special compassionate acts are what stood out. Please give Nurse Dana recognition as I find her kindness to be heroic!
