Mona is one of the most capable, compassionate, and effective nurses I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I've often said, "If I could clone a single nurse, it would be Mona." There is absolutely no aspect of her job that Mona doesn't take seriously and execute with excellence. Mona never misses an opportunity to mentor and support the nurses in the programs.

Daily, she makes rounds to each of the programs, which is an expectation of her role, but Mona actually sits and talks with the nurses and staff, asking them how their shift is going, and finding out what they need to get the shift completed successfully. Not only does she excel at the clinical aspects of her job, but she also can critically think her way through the most difficult situations that arise in a forensic facility such as NTSH.

Additionally, I have never seen Mona lose her composure in her tenure as a Shift Coordinator at NTSH. Through a pandemic with ever-changing guidelines, the most significant staffing shortage in recent memory, and multiple restructures of the campus, Mona has remained professional, compassionate, and steadfast in her role as the Nursing leader. When thinking of the DAISY Award and the excellence it denotes, I can't think of a more appropriate and deserving candidate than Mona Faul.
