I have a chronically sick child and we visit Riley pretty often, about 3 months out of the year. I've spent time with a lot of nurses and they're all very nice but for this admission, my child had been experiencing a lot of discomfort. We had been trying to convey to the staff that this wasn't normal and we were basically kind of brushed off. But Mackenzie spent half of a shift with my child and talking to me and actually cared and listened to what I had to say. She then took it upon herself to further investigate and we found out that there was an issue. Another nurse had unknowingly moved her GJ tube and somehow the J migrated from where it was supposed to be and gotten to her stomach. Had Mackenzie not spent the time and effort to try to help us, my daughter would probably still be in pain. I would just very much like to see her hard work and dedication recognized.
