She is not afraid to advocate for her patients, making their safety a priority no matter what.
Sheila Jensen sets a standard for the nursing career. She is always willing and able to come in early and stay till the last patient feels comfortable to leave. She makes every patient feel that they are important. No matter what the question is she is willing to answer or get the answers for the patients or their families.
Sheila is highly motivated and always steps up to assist her team members. Never sitting still. Sheila's first priority is always the patient. She has joined many committees at Newark Wayne such as CUSP, Periop council, and infection control to help look out for what is best for the patient. Sheila started the initiative to make sure that tape was no longer used on IVs under the tourniquet, making IVs a more sterile process.
Many patients have raved about how sweet and sincere she is when she comes into contact with them. She is not afraid to advocate for her patients, making their safety a priority no matter what. Her commitment to her team members has helped to improve morale throughout the staff. She has also referred and brought to Newark. Her commitment to Newark Wayne is unparalleled. She goes above and beyond to improve patient satisfaction and improve the quality of our service in the ASU and PACU.
We all know that having surgery can be very stressful and scary, Sheila makes sure to take the time out for not just the patient but also the family. Making sure that the doctor speaks to the family members. She consistently checks with family members making sure that their fears are calmed by getting answers for them. She makes the family feel how much the surgical services unit cares about each person that comes through the door, and not like a number.
Sheila is always looking for ways to improve herself, the team, and the hospital as a whole. Her kindness and years of experience as a nurse shine through every day. Patients and staff would agree that she really does care and never rushed to get them out so that she can leave. They know they are important no matter who they are. Her expertise is shared daily whether with her fellow coworkers or the students with whom she takes time to explain things. Her emphasis on detail and passion for caring for patients shows through every day!
