Steph was my rock. I don't know if I could have said no without her support.
Steph was my nurse and this was my third hospital stay after trying to heal my foot in three weeks. She was always kind and smiling. Always checking in on me to see if I was in pain or needed anything, even little things like ice water or to plug in my phone, or just to see if I ordered my food. I swear I saw her or my CNA at least every hour or sometimes every half hour. But what really made her special was when my doctor told me she was going to remove my foot the next day. She spent so much time with me going over why and answering my questions. When I told her my reservations about the surgery and that I really wished my other doctor could look at it before. (He cared for it with me for months.) She looked up his schedule and told me he would be back Monday. This was Saturday and I had a right to wait and get his opinion. I told her how nervous I was to tell the doctor I wanted to wait and she said she would talk to her for me and round with her to be my back up. So the next day she was true to her word and walked in with the doctor and helped me explain my feelings and my wish to wait to see my other doctor. Steph was my rock. I don't know if I could have said no without her support and even though I still had to have my foot amputated I was happy I had the doctor that I know and trusted doing it and Steph even came back to check on me four days later just to see how things went.
