Dawn Blauvelt was our nurse for my fourth child. She took my birth plan and went through it line by line to allow me to have the birth experience I wanted. When things changed and I needed the epidural, she held my hand and comforted me. Due to scoliosis after four painful attempts, I said enough is enough I cannot do this and we prepared for a natural birth.

Dawn held me and said, “I’m going to take care of you. We can do this. I will get mood lighting we will turn on some music. I will try every possible way to make sure you can get through this. It will be okay. You’ll tell me as soon as it gets tough and we’ll get you in the shower it’ll feel good on your back and you’ll feel fresh too.” My OB shortly thereafter found an anesthesiologist that used ultrasound for placement and I was able to quickly and painlessly get an epidural. If Dawn had not been my advocate, I do not know if I would have been able to get through this. She is a saint!
