Breanna sat on a stool at my bedside and had such peace around her. She was calm and kind when I was scared.
When I found out we had lost our baby at almost 17 weeks, the thought of delivery scared me. Being an L&D nurse, I know all the bad things that could happen and was trying not to think the worst. The delivery went pretty quickly and my day shift nurse was amazing. My placenta had still not delivered and I knew this could take a while.
At shift change in walked Breanna who is normally a day shift nurse. She told me she had decided to pick up the night shift less than 3 hours before. What an absolute godsend Breanna was in my room. Almost the entire night as I was given med after med and shot after shot to attempt to make my placenta come out. Breanna sat on a stool at my bedside and had such peace around her. She was calm and kind when I was scared. Her voice was comforting and she squeezed my hand as they tried to manually remove my placenta. After 9 hours, I had to have a D&C. She prayed for me and before rolling me to the OR, and held my hand as they intubated me. Truly she was an angel in scrubs that night. I know she treats all her patients with that kind of care because she also precepted me when I started as a nurse. Breanna truly has a God-given gift for nursing and goes above and beyond to make her patients feel supported, loved, and cared for.
Note: This is Breanna's 2bd DAISY Award!
