Lisa is a trooper, a patient advocate with a compassionate heart who deserves to be acknowledged.
Lisa is a part-time nurse for Pediatric Pulmonology in the outpatient clinic. Lisa has gone above and beyond for the pediatric pulmonary patients and for the clinic. At the end of the 2019 year, the Nurse Coordinator for the Advocate Children's Hospital CF Center took a two-month leave of absence. Lisa stepped in and took on a full-time role to make sure our CF families got the care they deserved, and no patient went without immediate care. Then again in March of 2020, right at the beginning of the pandemic, Lisa needed to once again unexpectantly step into the role of CF nurse with full-time hours. Then, at the end of summer, her job-share counterpart also started a family leave. This left Lisa as the sole nurse responsible for all clinics, general pulmonary, and CF patients. Lisa took the challenge in stride and moved forward without a complaint, taking one day at a time. Lisa has worked hard to create an environment for the team that is very inclusive, as we utilize our individual skills to best serve each patient. She has made the most of a difficult situation and has said, "as long as the patients are being taken care of, I can do this!" Even though she is looking forward to going back to her 0.5 FTE, she is a trooper, a patient advocate with a compassionate heart.
