You never expect a cancer diagnosis. You never expect to be recovering from surgery, struggling to do something you have done multiple times a day in your life. You never expect a normal after-surgery recovery, to go hours and hours beyond what it should. You never expect to experience one of the greatest pains you have ever experienced that day, but my dad did all of that and Ana was by our side, smiling, caring, and showing compassion the entire process.

For my dad the day was awful, but Ana showed love and gave us the care that got us through the day. She was the difference in the day. Some situations will always be awful. Cancer is always awful. Ana got us through an awful day, and I can honestly say her extraordinary nursing skills made the day much better than it could have been. Ana demonstrated these skills by collaborating with other nurses and Dr. K to ensure my dad was always on track with his recovery. She demonstrated patience which is unheard of. She is an effective communicator. She’s optimistic compassionate and so much more. Ana was exactly the nurse we needed yesterday. She is the nurse everyone needs!
