I was admitted to the hospital and spent a few days in the Med/Surg unit as well as the Orthopedics unit. During my stay, I was lucky enough to have Yihong as my nurse. Being a retired nurse who is also an amputee, blind, and a stroke victim, being a patient is challenging for me. I had a difficult stay as I had multiple medical staff involved in my care. The minute that Yihong stepped into my room, I knew that she was different. She made me feel like I was her one and only patient, although I know for sure that I wasn’t. She took the time to listen when I needed an ear and gave me the best bed bath of my life. Yihong was willing to let me take control when it came to my healthcare and allowed me to do things my way as I have been dealing with my limitations for a long time. Yihong is one who nurses from the heart and for that I will be forever grateful.
