My stepdad, "C," was admitted to the hospital eight days post-liver transplant with severe abdominal pain and distention. After multiple imaging studies, they found a bile duct leak, and he needed emergent surgery. It was a whirlwind of emotions, and I was very nervous as the news came suddenly. I went with "C" to Pre-Op, and as soon as they rolled him away for surgery, I started to sob. Missy stayed in the Pre-Op room with me empathetically listening to my concerns and offering her support while tears rolled down my face.
