Sara Jefferies is an exceptional nurse. She is the nurse on my team who I lean on to precept & educate our new nurses because I know I can count on her to prepare them accordingly. Sara has a special knack with difficult patients & is highly skilled at meeting them where they are & educating them even when they want to be resistant, but they love her & trust her & end up complying. Sara has a difficult wound vac patient who has chased several nurses out of her home, but she adores Sara. The patient has difficult family dynamics and has been struggling with this wound for a very long time. Sara continues to make an impact with great wound care but also compassionate patient care, meeting the patient where she is & giving this patient what's needed to heal her body & soul. Sara is a strong advocate for infection control & has championed this with other field nurses as well as our patients. She understands the need & necessity for exceptional infection control for the betterment of everyone. She is not afraid to speak up or be unpopular for the benefit of her patients. I can always count on Sara to communicate-the good, bad, ugly, & funny. She often brightens my day or stops my heart with her calls & emails. She is dependable, very honest, so funny, incredibly skilled, a bit strong-willed, in a good way, but so kind & gooey on the inside. Sara is a strong advocate for nurses as well as her patients & represents the VNA with the utmost integrity & ethics. I am so lucky to work beside her every day.
