Angie is one of the living donor coordinators in the Transplant Clinic. She is always putting her patients first, making them feel comfortable and at ease, and making sure the donor process goes smoothly for each surgery. An example of this was last Friday.

Angie realized the kidney donor did not have any of her mandatory labs back for her surgery that was scheduled for Monday. Angie called the donor immediately to have her come into one of our labs to be drawn. However, these labs take 3-5 days to come back, and the surgery was supposed to be on Monday. Angie spent the entire day on the phone with other labs in the area to try to figure out if there was a way to get these done and save her transplant surgery. Angie ended up finding a lab that would run these tests in house and the results would be back in 1-2 days. The only catch was the donor had her labs drawn in Muskegon. Angie went above and beyond to arrange for the blood to be delivered to the local lab in Grand Rapids that was willing to run the tests.

Angie dropped everything for this donor and recipient, staying after hours and postponing her vacation to ensure these tests were completed. Due to her quick thinking, coordinating skills, and selflessness, the transplant was still able to happen on Monday.
