I have been delivering babies at Methodist for 34 years. I recently had the most difficult shoulder dystocia delivery that I have ever experienced in my career. Bobbie and Tamra carried out the practiced maneuvers for such situations to perfection though we still were not able to deliver this baby. They called for backup assistance along with the NICU response without me even telling them to do it. They calmed a very emotional and scared family through the experience.

We eventually delivered the baby but unfortunately, the baby did encounter a fracture to her arm. This was, however, the only way we were going to get her delivered alive. The NICU team performed CPR to revive the baby. This was a very emotional experience for all of us. A few days later we held a debriefing. It helped me appreciate the emotional attachment that we all develop with our patients. None of us will ever be the same after this delivery. These 2 nurses performed at the highest ability that night and went above and beyond to support the patient, the family, myself, and other staff during a difficult situation.

Bobbie and Tamra helped save this baby's life! I am truly indebted to them along with all of the other staff who attended this delivery. Since this event, I have received an outpouring of support from all of the staff who know about this delivery. Bobbie and Tamra truly exemplify "the meaning of care".
