When I heard about the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, Ma. Vanessa immediately came to mind. Vanessa exemplifies all of the qualities of a DAISY Award Nurse Leader. I recently read a quote from John Maxwell that said, “Leaders become great, not because of their work but because of their ability to empower others.” She made me feel that I was a valued part of this organization when I was having doubts and problems. With her kindness, compassion, and guidance, she makes me strive and determined to do better because I would never want to her down. She is a very positive person, and we can rely on her in every struggle we encounter in the area, she makes sure that the concerns in our unit will be addressed properly.

For me, her life is very remarkable. She motivated me to be more confident, knowledgeable, and skillful in dealing with complicated situations. Her willingness to impart and share her knowledge inspires me to pay it forward. She is approachable, flexible, supportive, and calm, and her availability in very emergent situations makes her unique and special. For me, she is an excellent and extraordinary nurse.
