I am certain I could not have had a better nurse take care of me.
I underwent surgery at Colquitt Regional Medical Center recently. I am sure I could not have been more fortunate because RN Ms. Anna Byrd was the angel assigned to care for me that night. If the “Nurse Manufacturing Facility” was to choose each characteristic and skill of their perfect nurse, they would end up with Ms. Anna as their final product. I am certain I could not have had a better nurse take care of me.

Ms. Anna was so kind, gentle, and professional. She was endlessly patient, answering my many questions and concerns. Ms. Anna explained everything to me very carefully every time she entered the room to care for me, which I found very comforting. When she completed each task and was preparing to leave the room, she always asked if there was anything else I needed or anything else she could do to make me more comfortable. She also told me exactly what time she would return to my room, and what task she would perform when she came. She even told me in advance the times when I could expect other staff members would come into my room and the purposes of their visits. I found “pre-knowledge” very reassuring.

Ms. Anna was also perfectly willing to help me with questions and assist me with things that I would have felt embarrassed about had she not been so comforting and professional. If a nurse can be psychic about what her patients need, that is certainly a quality held by Ms. Anna. There were times that I was just starting to think about something, and “voila!” there she would be, coming into my room, and frequently for the very purpose I had been thinking about. The few times I pushed the buzzer to request assistance, she was “Johnny on the spot” popping into my room, always with a smile and a very welcoming willingness to help me with whatever I needed.

In short, I must say that being fortunate enough to have Ms. Anna Byrd as my nurse during my hospital stay, I was indeed a lucky patient. When she went off shift in the morning, I asked her permission to give her a hug. I know you must be proud to have her on your team.
