My dad was admitted to 3SW for a wound infection requiring antibiotics. After getting a chest X-ray, and a CT scan of his chest, it was determined he had lung cancer that had spread to his liver and lymph nodes. While this was very upsetting for him and our family, Kalsang was amazing with dad. She is so kind, and gentle, and gave him lots of TLC. He had to stay for a few days while we waited for hospice to be set up, and we are so thankful that Kalsang was his primary nurse. He decided he did not want any further treatment, and so he was put on comfort care. Kalsang was attentive, and amazing with dad while giving him privacy and dignity to grieve his diagnosis. While this is not what we anticipated during his admission, we are SO thankful that we were able to leave the hospital for breaks, knowing Kalsang was his nurse. As he transitions to end of life care, we are thankful and feel blessed for the care he received at St Mary's.
