She cared for mom with the heart of a daughter and treated us as if she was our sister. She was “all in” in caring for our mother.
Angie Beiilstein has been our mama’s hospice nurse on and off for several years. We have several health care professionals in our family, so we did expect the highest clinical care for our mother, but we really were not aware of how much care we would truly need on this journey. Angie not only had excellent nursing skills, but she also displayed compassion, and sensitivity to our mother’s needs and prepared us emotionally as well. Even at times when our mother’s dementia caused her to be combative, Angie always responded with patience, kindness, and perseverance. She cared for her with the highest standards. She constantly reassured my mom in order to calm her and reassured us to make sure we understood our mother’s reactions were a part of her dementia and didn’t dictate her lifelong character.

Toward the end of mama’s life, as she began to lose all function, Angie continued to give the same amazing care and treatment. She cared for mom with the heart of a daughter and treated us as if she was our sister. She was “all in” in caring for our mother. She served as a counsel to us and was always ready and willing to answer our questions on what to expect next. What a gift it was to remove the surprise of decline from our grief.

Our family wanted to give Angie a tangible gift after our mother’s passing to thank her for all she gave our mother and all she gave us. Unfortunately, Angie returned the gift informing us that she was not allowed to receive such a gift. In our effort to find something that could relay our deepest and most heartfelt thanks, we are nominating Angie for a DAISY Award and we ask that you please honor her for her kind, compassionate and consistent care for our mother and our family. We can’t think of anything finer to give her, but we need your help to do it. Thank you for helping us and please thank Angie.
