Stephanie was the nurse for a young patient experiencing illnesses and complications with cerebral palsy. It was an absolute honor to witness the most intentional and compassionate care toward this seriously ill girl. Stephanie was absolutely devoted to the comfort, attention, and critical needs of this patient. Stephanie made the girl feel at home during all the craziness of her medical needs; from cozy repositionings, to changing feeding regimens, and to calling the mother for the best ways to have her daughter be comfortable. Stephanie consistently updated the mother and MDs on the progress and maintained a professional and compassionate demeanor. I was taken aback by the joy, honor, love, and selflessness Stephanie exemplified with this patient.

Taking care of someone who cannot speak for themselves can be daunting and frustrating, however, Stephanie went above and beyond to ensure this patient was heard, seen, and provided all the same cares and attention. The mother of the patient shared how incredible Stephanie was in caring for her baby girl and was so grateful she was put in Stephanie’s loving care. Going above and beyond is a natural feat for Stephanie, and all those who are trusted in her care know they’re in exceptional hands. You are “an inspiration” to all nurses, Stephanie.
