My husband and I both were hospitalized for covid and its complications. He was sent to CCU. Very sick. Put on 100% oxygen. I was sent to the Covid floor. I got over my covid 14 days later and went home leaving my husband behind. Five days later I was back in the ER with what I found out was Guillain Barre, which was paralyzing me and it was taking my ability to breathe and talk. They were sending me to CCU so I called my husband’s nurse, who was Sandy so she could tell him I was no longer well at home but was headed to CCU. When they wheeled me in, she made sure I got to see him for the first time since we were hospitalized. That was the first of many acts of kindness.

She never was my nurse only my husband's nurse but mentally and spiritually she helped us both. I was intubated as soon as I arrived. She kept my husband informed. Even went to peek in on me and told him I was ok. Later on, they moved him to the 7th floor and then to home. This time he was going home and I still stayed. She went and got him and wheeled him to CCU to see me before he left the hospital. She did not have to. But she knew we were so worried about each other and it was rough because we were so sick. I was still in CCU and Sandy would peek in and pray for my husband and me still.

When I moved out to go to 7th floor myself, she didn’t forget me. On her day off, she brought me wordbooks, a milkshake, and other things and sat with me. She was off from work and spent her precious time with me. She is so special. She is genuine in her love and support for sick scared people. I was scared or we were and she was our calming Angel. I am not good at these writing of feelings, but know she treats all her patients with love, and respect, and when she is with you, your needs are what is important.
