I truly believe that Sarah discussing my child's medical needs, and concerns and bringing them to my attention changed the entire course for my child.
During my child's routine MRI, she had a slight struggle after anesthesia. Sarah was the RN taking care of her that afternoon. In talking with her over the course of a few hours we talked about the issue being common for some kids but also that perhaps we should see the pulmonologist again. Sarah was so good at keeping me calm and also explaining what was happening at the time.

Over the course of our time in radiology, Sarah mentioned to me that she was curious as to why she was struggling and that perhaps if we had a pulse oximeter at home we should check her oxygen levels when she sleeps just to see if she's doing ok. That evening, after a long day at Seattle Children's, I put my baby to bed and put the pulse oximeter on her foot. I very quickly found that her oxygen levels were well below normal and got her into our primary care provider. We then were admitted and eventually transferred to the PICU at Seattle Children's for many days. It was discovered that my child has Central Apnea.

I truly believe that Sarah discussing my child's medical needs, and concerns and bringing them to my attention changed the entire course for my child. I do not know where we would have been without her suggesting I look into monitoring her when she slept that night. I do know that her knowledge and professionalism very well could have saved my child's life. We will be forever grateful.
