Without hesitation, J. Sok immediately pulled the man out of the car and placed him on a gurney that allowed the team to intervene and render care.
Jean Sok started with Memorial Hospital of Gardena as a new Graduate RN in our Medical Surgical unit. After expanding his experience in that unit, he transferred to the Emergency Department. He is an outstanding example of an Emergency Department RN and is an asset to the facility.
On Thanksgiving Day, there was a family that had arrived at the facility to say a final goodbye to their father who had just passed away in the intensive care unit. Upon arrival at the facility in the parking lot, the son became overcome with grief and this grief triggered a grand mal seizure in the car with his mother. J. Sok and the ED team responded and ran to the car to provide care, but this son was approximately 350 pounds and was having difficulty breathing by this time. Without hesitation, J. Sok immediately pulled the man out of the car and placed him on a gurney that allowed the team to intervene and render care. This was a truly heroic act and if he did not intervene, the team would have struggled to get this large man out of the car due to his size. This son had a very positive outcome due to the rapid interventions of J. Sok. He went above and beyond with his quick thinking and rapid intervention.
