She understands the importance of her job and how she can make a difference in the lives of our patients. Her pleasant and serene demeanor allows others to feel at ease with her presence. We had a young patient on our unit with a flat affect, very depressed, and closed off to conversation. It was difficult to converse with the patient to obtain a history or even just hold a simple conversation. Many nurses and MDs attempted to start a connection, but no luck. This nurse came into the picture and changed everything. This night nurse went above and beyond for the patient. She motivated the patient to get out of bed and they even went on walks on the unit. During their walks, they bounced. She helped the patient meet all the discharge milestones after surgery. Upon DC she gave the patient a gift, and her face radiated with joy. The patient was incredibly thankful for the extraordinary care of this nurse.
