Emily Minneci provides extraordinary compassionate care above and beyond what I even anticipated being at NM. I was newly diagnosed (just a week) with multiple myeloma and then unexpectedly spent weeks on the 14th floor of Prentice Oncology after an ER visit. I am so fortunate that Emily was my day nurse many times throughout my stay. Emily is professional beyond her years and demonstrates extreme compassion and extraordinary clinical skills, yet is able to maintain the human component of why a patient is in the hospital which is a hard balance.

I was newly diagnosed at 46 years old with cancer so literally, everything was new to me and it was also a very scary time as I was just learning about my own cancer. Emily showed grace, compassion, and extreme patience as she literally answered all my crazy questions, and always took time to explain meds to me, and answer my questions. She would narrate through everything she was doing so I was comfortable with all processes with my IVs, oxygen, and a million other things. She was beyond patient, caring, and empathetic and always maintained the utmost professionalism. I felt safe and secure with Emily as my day nurse. I trusted her and her judgment and for a new cancer patient, this is huge!

If she didn’t know an answer, she sought it out, offered to page doctors, and provided timelines for what to expect during the day (which I loved because so many unknowns). She took extreme care knowing how much pain I was in. Emily is a gem and it’s clear she is passionate about nursing and that is so comforting and reassuring as a patient. I am so grateful and appreciative of Emily and so happy our paths crossed as she just made the days better.
