Our baby had to spend 2 weeks in the NICU after an emergency C-section and she could not be held or stimulated for the first 72 hours of her life. Kassy was our nurse on the 3rd day of our baby’s stay and she was so kind! She took extra time to make sure she answered all of my questions (and I ask a lot of questions). She even took the time to listen to me vent about how traumatic the birth was and listened to me talk about my fears and how hard it was for me to not be able to hold my baby. The day Kassy was our nurse also happened to be my husband’s birthday and I told her that I felt bad for him because I knew that all he wanted for his birthday was for the three of us to all be home together. Later that day when my husband and I left to get lunch we came back to the NICU to see a birthday card with a picture of our baby, her footprint, and a message saying “Happy birthday dad, I love you”. Seeing the card that Kassy had made from our daughter made both of us so happy and turned our whole day around. It was just a little card but it made the world of a difference to my husband and me and it meant so much that she took the time out of her day to make that for us. I will never forget it!
