One of our young patients was removed from their family's care and was staying in the hospital until they could be placed with a foster family. They had been placed with one foster and had to return for another admission and different placement so had become well-known to our nurses. Gabbie had cared for the patient for several days and though we all care for our patients she had taken extra care to hold the patient, play with them, and give them the attention they needed from a caregiver. She took the time to go outside of work and purchase clothes, pajamas, bibs, and other items for the patient to have while in the hospital and moving on with their new foster family. Her attention for this patient over and above what was required showed such care and compassion for our little patient.
