Andy was there to help me every step of the way through those darkest hours of my life and made sure I was as comfortable as I could possibly be for what I had just gone through.
My placenta just ruptured at 34 weeks pregnant, and the medical team decided to schedule an induction after heavy bleeding. I was lucky enough to be placed in Nurse Andy’s care that evening. Halfway through the induction, the baby monitor on my belly indicated that something was wrong with the baby, and he was no longer getting enough oxygen. Andy acted quickly and called for an extra set of hands to my hospital room.
The physician who was on shift that night just happened to be walking past my room at that moment and immediately came in to make an assessment. They made the decision to call a Code White and I was rushed into emergency C-section surgery. I was terrified going into the operating room under no pain medication, but the Doctor stayed calm and assured me that this was needed, and everything was going to be okay. They quickly and calmly spoke to my husband to say that they wanted more time to explain to him what was going on but that I needed to be operated on right away to save our baby.
The blood lab results that came from my baby after delivery proved that the nurse and doctor made the right decision and that there were in fact only very few minutes to act quickly. If it wasn't for them, my baby and I might not be alive today. After the operation I struggled to walk, talk, get out of bed, eat, go to the bathroom, etc. and nurse Andy was there to help me every step of the way through those darkest hours of my life and made sure I was as comfortable as I could possibly be for what I had just gone through. She treated me as if I was family, was compassionate in her bedside manner, and provided an above-and-beyond level of medical care. I truly feel that Andrea Boudreau was my guardian angel that night, and I and my family will forever be grateful for what she did for me and my baby.
