Hello, I am writing you because I feel that my mother's nurse, Amber Jones, RN, really deserves a show of my and my family’s appreciation. Amber cared for my mother many times during her current stay in the ICU. She was always kind, caring, and extremely intelligent. Amber took it upon herself to make sure that my mother was not only safe but that her life-saving medication was uninterrupted.

My mother has Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension and is on a lifesaving medication that runs directly to her heart. This medication is pushed through a CAD pump once a minute. My mother needed to have an MRI done but the machine couldn’t go with her. Although the team was ready to go, Amber without direction or instruction, went down to the MRI area and tested the tubing that would deliver this medication to my mother and realized that the tubing would be occluded if they proceeded. She literally ran, and when she returned to the floor she was sweating. Amber, in my opinion, saved my mother's life by stopping the team just as they were preparing transport to start the MRI.

Amber has been an advocate as well as a caregiver for my mother. I met Amber after I flew in from NYC to be with my mother in her time of need, the care, compassion, leadership, and knowledge that Amber gracefully displayed helped to put my mind at ease when I had to return to New York while my mother remained in ICU. We need more nurses like Amber Jones who go above and beyond for the sake of their patients.
