My office is next to the recovery room. I hear the wonderful care and teaching that the staff does. This is the reason I have firsthand knowledge of Christen‘s nursing care and abilities. The reason I’m taking the time to tell you about Christen is she is so dedicated and skilled in her delivery of care. I want to tell you about a patient Christen cared for and how she models a true DAISY.

Christen had a patient who received Narcan in the OR; he arrived at the PACU writhing in pain on a scale of seven to out of ten. Christen used her critical thinking and nursing judgment to get a patient like this comfortable in a safe manner. This is very challenging because of the situation. The charge nurse also came to me stating what an amazing job Christen did to get this patient to trust her and believe in her ability to get him comfortable.

The charge nurse also mentioned to me she is able to take a difficult patient and get them managed efficiently so she can discharge them and take on another patient. She sees the big picture. Christen is very positive when she arrives to work and when she leaves. I never see her sit when she is here. Always looking for ways to help out. Christen demonstrates professionalism at the bedside and with our team by doing all she can to do better for the unit the staff, and most importantly the patient and family. I’ve only known Christen for a short time. During that time I’ve witnessed an extraordinary caring individual who represents what the Art of Nursing is at its best.
