Following a routine outpatient procedure, I was admitted to the hospital for complications that arose from the procedure not going perfectly to plan. I was in a considerable amount of pain and stress due to the complications. As anyone who has had to spend time in a hospital for health issues can attest, it can be very scary, stressful, and at times overwhelming, as you contemplate why, what’s next, and when will I get to see my family and loved ones again? These thoughts and decisions that have to be made during such stressful times can be a lot to sit with as you wait for the game plan from the doctors. I believe that when we reach our lowest and we are scared by the situation or the surroundings we find ourselves in, God puts people in our path to help comfort us and reassure us that things will be ok. Reaven was that individual in my path who gave me reassurance in my time of uncertainty. She was so kind and considerate, so caring and nice at a time when I needed it most.

Reaven, like so many healthcare providers, has to show up to their job and take care of people that are often at a low point in life, yet she did so every day with pleasantness about her that brought comfort and reassurance. It was remarkable and inspiring how kind Reaven treated me and my wife during my stay. If there were more people like Reaven, the world would be a much better place! I think Reaven is the Gold Standard not only in her occupations; but also in how she treats others with kindness, compassion, and care. It’s what she does every day and something we should all aspire to. I’m thankful that Reaven was put in my path as a DAISY during a most challenging and uncertain time, and I hope she is recognized for her exceptional performance and the exceptional person she is!
