Nurse Simran could have easily released me, but her acute observations may have saved my life.
When I checked into the hospital via ambulance, it was for ureteral stent pain, high fever, and severe shaking. I was kept overnight to get the fever under control. The next day my pain had subsided, the shakes were gone, and the fever appeared to be under control. My vitals all checked out and preparations were being made for my release. My nurse, Simran looked at me and said I wasn’t breathing right. She had me walk around the floor while monitoring my heart rate and oxygen levels. My oxygen dropped to 86% and my heart rate went to 115. She immediately got me over to cardiac care and they found two large blood clots on the pulmonary side of my heart. Nurse Simran could have easily released me, but her acute observations may have saved my life. I will be forever grateful.
