During my time precepting Lili at TMCA, she was kind, funny, and always knew how to talk to patients. One story that really moved me was when one of our patients who had esophageal cancer mentioned that she wanted to shower and freshen up as it would mean the world to her. Lili never hesitated to volunteer to help the patient as I was overcome with many tasks with our other patients. Lili searched the entire unit for a shower chair as the patient was weak and did not have a lot of strength to her. She took her time to shower and converse with the patient and even help put the patient’s hair into braids. I remember when it was time for change of shift and Lili had already left after giving the night nurse an SBAR report, the patient was in tears mentioning how despite the patient feeling like a burden to her family due to her illness, Lili never made it her feel like showering her was a burden and in fact, something she was deserving of. I will always remember Lili as someone who was kind, loving, and caring. She always made sure to make her patients feel like human beings and she never hesitated to take on tasks to support her fellow nursing colleagues and her patients.
