Our sister was admitted to the unit after a fall that resulted in a broken femur. Unfortunately, for various medical reasons, her surgery was delayed. All the nurses on the unit took great care of my sister. However, Sarah Meeks takes the prize! Our sister shared with us that from the moment Sarah walked into her room, she noticed that she was attentive to her needs, like getting extra bedding underneath my sister. My sister was completely afraid of moving due to the intense pain. However, Sarah managed to successfully work with her to reposition and even wash and freshen her up. As a nurse myself, I appreciated all that she did for my sister. I personally had an opportunity to witness Sarah at work. She took the time to explain each medication to my sister and even compassionately delivered the sad news that her surgery would be delayed. I also appreciated that, despite being a large family, Sarah was very accommodating and kind to us. Most importantly, she was a great advocate for my sister (particularly when her blood pressure was elevated). Thank you, Sarah, for all you do and continue to do, from one nurse to another.
