With Danielle as our nurse, we knew our baby was in the best hands and would be taken care of with minimal medication vs being over-sedated.
My 4-month-old daughter was admitted to the hospital with RSV Bronchiolitis Pneumonia. This led her to her being intubated for 6 days. During her initial intubation, she was resistant to fentanyl to properly sedate her, which led to increased movement…and an escalating fentanyl quantity. Danielle went out of her way to identify and stop increasing her fentanyl dosage and to move her to something more effective. This was step one on a long journey as my daughter continued to be resistant to sedation; she was being administered morphine, Ativan, Ketamine, Pentobarb, and paralytics. Through the process, Danielle was amazing and provided peace of mind that few others did. She answered questions of every flavor, as we are very involved in the whole process, and she was not annoyed at any of it. With Danielle as our nurse, we knew our baby was in the best hands and would be taken care of with minimal medication vs being over-sedated. Our baby then developed withdrawals and Danielle was there to help us; administering rescue shots only as needed… getting us down from 6-7 rescue shots at night to 1-2 during the day. Danielle stood out as bright light during the whole process.
