I’m here every 8 weeks for my infusions. This is the first time a Nurse made me cry with gratitude. That morning, the AC was broken, it was so hot in mid-July in those small infusion rooms. Patients seemed on edge. Nurses were multi-tasking. There was anxious energy on the unit. I met Vera, and Thank God I did, she was resilient and professional and it gave me the strength and the self-awareness to go with the flow. Her leadership mannerisms and caring personality eased my anxiety. I instantly trusted her. She made me feel safe and well taken care of regardless of the situations going on in the hospital that were beyond her control. She made me calm, and laughed, and distracted my pain and anxiety. With friendly conversation and everything I needed. She made sure it was done in a prompt manner. I felt like a family member took care of me. I am so grateful for her! And that she works in the same-day surgery unit.
