I would like to nominate Lindsey Griffin for her exceptional dedication to our patients in the most difficult time. For the last three months, Lindsey has been caring for one of the infants in our unit. She developed a caring relationship with the family and was very nurturing to the infant when the family could not be present. The last three months have been very challenging for the family and their little boy had many complications to his complex congenital heart disease.

The family made the difficult decision to redirect the care of their son. They struggled immensely with this decision. Lindsey provided continual support to the family offering assurance to do what was best for their family. The parents decided it would be too difficult for them to watch their son pass on but made the plans for the withdrawal of care with the medical team. The family left as their little one lay in his crib. Lindsey planned her workflow around this event and dedicated the rest of her day to ensuring the little baby would not pass on alone. She wrapped him in a beautiful blanket, pulled in a glider, and held him in her arms, rocking him gently for the last hours of his life. She ensured the family's wishes were met, provided love and comfort at the most difficult time, and ensured no judgment would be passed for these difficult decisions.

Lindsey is a role model for our core values every day. She is an excellent nurse who puts her patients and families first. Lindsey is also one of our core preceptors and mentors for the CICU. She was precepting on this day and truly modeled for the young nurse how to provide care in the highest form. She was an inspiration to our whole team for her selfless actions.
