Our baby was born 9 weeks early and we were life flighted to a city two hours away from where we lived. Our son had a roller coaster ride in the NICU of ups and downs, keeping us at the hospital for another 10 weeks. It took a huge toll on us mentally with the combination of having to be away from our other son, our dogs, and our home, on top of taking what seemed like hit after hit on the medical status of my son. James was the night nurse for my son quite a few times throughout this experience and not only was great with my son but was also extremely empathetic and comforting with me during the hardest time in my life. He went the extra mile to make sure we were both as comfortable and supported as we possibly could be, and I will never forget that. He and another nurse even made a poster from our newborn to our older son on his birthday for me to take home on a particularly hard week. James has a personable touch and nature to nursing that can’t be taught which I think makes him one of the best nurses we’ve ever had.
