She asked about Dad’s taste in music and when we next called she was holding his hand and listening to Andrea Bocelli. These small acts of care and kindness meant so much.
This nomination is extremely overdue as Linda cared for our Dad in April 2021. I will never forget her kindness, compassion, and understanding at such a difficult time. Dad was under her care at a time when visiting was severely restricted and Linda understood how hard it was for us not to be able to be with him. She arranged Zoom calls which although very distressing seeing Dad attached to so much machinery gave us an idea of where he was and we could see the faces behind the kind voices on the phone. We encountered technological difficulties but Linda would always persevere. If we told her “we know how busy you are” she’d reply “THIS is important.” She asked about Dad’s taste in music and when we next called she was holding his hand and listening to Andrea Bocelli. These small acts of care and kindness meant so much. Linda is such a credit to the team she works in and I have been meaning to nominate her ever since April 21. Sadly Dad died in ICU in April. Thankfully we were able to be at his bedside. I will always take comfort from that and also from knowing that in his final weeks when we couldn’t be with him, he was cared for with such warmth and kindness by Linda and the amazing team she is part of. Thank you.
