As I write this, I’m sitting on a plane headed back home after visiting my daughter in California. I’m sitting with my legs elevated and my back supported awkwardly by a pillow to assist with my breathing. I think about all the nurses, especially Alyssa at St. Mary’s. She went out of her way to care for me with kindness and how lucky I am to have had such great providers who genuinely cared for me. She was attentive to my pain level, which is always appreciated. I thank you. I know there are times when you feel unappreciated working long hours in stressful and sometimes hostile environments dealing with people at their worst and at times you become frustrated when they take their pain out on you. Thank you for continuing to carry out your duties not only with professionalism but with compassion. Thank you again.
