Kaitlyn sat with me, took her time to listen to my story, and knowing that I am a devout Christian, she even prayed with me.
I was admitted to the ACE Unit several days ago due to severe Covid symptoms and also alcohol and opiate withdrawal following the sudden death of my husband approximately 6 weeks prior. His death came just as I was beginning to heal from my twin sister’s suicide in October 2020. I have also been a nurse since 2005, so it’s fair to say I’ve spent the past 17 years around thousands of nurses. During my first couple of days here, my pain was a “10”, my anxiety was high and I felt as if I would never feel “normal” again. Kaitlyn managed my physical symptoms extremely well, her assessments were complete, she implemented care quickly and evaluated the outcome timely and thoroughly. When my physical symptoms resolved, and reality hit me, I was very emotional. Kaitlyn sat with me, took her time to listen to my story, and knowing that I am a devout Christian, she even prayed with me. She made a huge difference in my recovery here. After listening to me; allowing me to cry; offering sound advice and reassuring me, I was able, for the first time in weeks, to start feeling like myself again. This hospital is very fortunate to have Kaitlyn on staff. I truly believe that she will change lives, and will continue to contribute, to the healing of thousands of patients, during her nursing career.
