As the shift changed, we met Shawn Prince. She came in and did her job like a champ. Did not leave anything out. She kept us up on the latest and took care of my daughter as if she was her mother. My daughter said she felt like she had known this nurse her whole life. I told her I felt the same way. The compassion she has is phenomenal. She is like an angel watching over my daughter. The next day when it was time to push, where was this nurse? Right by my daughter’s side. This nurse is uniquely made, one of a kind, you rock gal.

My water broke at 35 weeks. I was hooked up to the NST, and my nurse went over everything. She kept checking on me. I had an epidural. Later there was an episode where I felt faint and a little short of breath. She came in and asked if I felt the baby move. I honestly did not know because of the epidural. She called out loudly for help and, when no one came, sent my husband to the desk, she told him, “To the nurses' station and tell them I need help now.”

The Doctor ran in, cathed me himself, and got anesthesia in. My nurse was under the bed, holding my baby’s head. Every time the Doctor dropped anything; it fell on the nurse’s head! She held her hand on my daughter’s head to keep it off the cord. I did not know that then. She saved her life. She recognized what was happening and knew exactly what needed to be done. I am grateful every year of my baby’s birthday.
