Macy, thank you for taking excellent care of both the newborn and her mom!
Only a parent who has had a baby in the NICU knows what it’s like to be there. It’s incredibly scary, confusing, and so overwhelming. You feel helpless and lost as you stare at your newborn baby through plexiglass, but then walks in a nurse who changes everything for you and your family.

On the days when I felt alone and isolated, she befriended me and distracted me from the loneliness. On the days when I felt helpless and intimidated by the idea of being a brand new mother to a NICU baby, she showed me how to be kind to myself and trust my instincts.

On the days when it felt like I only had the energy to sit at my baby’s bedside and cry, Macy encouraged me to find happiness in my day. On my worst days in the NICU, Macy picked me up and tucked me under her wing. She would soften the blow of the bad news and celebrate with us on the great news. Macy earned my trust day after day as she lovingly cared for our baby.

Being a mother in the NICU is sometimes very demoralizing, but nurses like Macy turn that around. Macy is patient and kind and deserves to be recognized for all of the greatness she contributes to the medical field.  We were so blessed to have Macy as a nurse. She feels like family now.
