This summer, our family’s life was turned upside down. Our brother who is 33 years old was rushed to Lompoc ER where he was placed on life support on arrival. Our family was confused and scared by the whole situation. It was a shock seeing him in that state. Julia encouraged us to talk to him and hold his hand. She never left his side, every question we had, she answered for us even though we asked the same questions several times. Everything she did she explained to us and to him. She updated us as soon as she received any new orders or information regarding his health condition. She offered emotional support to all of our family until the moment he was transported to Cottage Hospital. She walked outside with his sister to the critical care transport and stayed with her until he was gone. A support cart was provided to our family with drinks and snacks. We can never thank her enough. We know it was a team effort for his survival and we cannot thank Dr. Tufenkian and the ER team enough for the care they provided. We nominate this nurse as she went above and beyond with her care and the emotional support she provided, not only to our family but also to her patient. He is currently at another medical center and it is our belief if it wasn’t for the diligent care he received from Julia at Lompoc hospital, he would have never made it this far.
