I was diagnosed in September of 2021. It was a shock, and I was terrified. The day after I was diagnosed, I received a call from Alex. She told me she was going to be with me every step of the way. She would be my advocate and navigator in this journey. They were a bright light in this dark time. I didn't know what to expect. I am a nurse, but I haven't needed a nurse navigator for anything before. Alex was with me through it all. As soon as I met with the surgeon, I met with Alexandra. The nurse was comforting to me. They walked me through what I would be facing with surgery and treatment. Alex took her time with me. I never felt rushed. When I had my first surgery, they showed up there. I told them once that I think they knew my schedule of appointments and procedures better than me. Unfortunately, I had to have a second surgery. During that surgery, I had a complication. The surgery center had to call 911 and transport me to Huntington. Alex rushed over to see me, but I had been discharged before they arrived. Alex called me first thing the next day to make sure I was ok.

I know people call nurses angels in disguise… Alex really is. I had to do 5 weeks of treatment and Alex always made sure they were checking in with me and would visit with me during that time. Alex recommended the services that this department offers, and I was able to benefit from those services. I know that I would not have been able to have made it through all that I had to go through without Alexandra's care. Huntington has found a true gem in Alexandra Davis!
